The Mego Supergirl action figure is a vintage toy based on the comic book character Supergirl, produced by the American company Mego during the 1970s.

 

Background

The Supergirl figure was released by Mego in 1974 as part of the ‘Super Gals’ series within the ‘World’s Greatest Super Heroes’ range of toys. It was produced until mid-1979, when it was discontinued along with a number of other figures including Aquaman, Thor and the Green Goblin.

The figure is fully poseable and measures 8” in height. The first release of the figure in 1974 features a one-piece outfit with all the detailing and colours silkscreened on to it, whereas later versions from 1975 onwards have outfits comprising of different pieces. The later outfits include a red and blue jumpsuit, skin-tone leggings, a yellow belt and red shoes, and both versions include a removeable red cape.

The figure was released in both a window box and a carded blister pack, with different versions featuring different artwork. It has become one of the most collectible of all the Mego WGSH range.

How much is a Mego Supergirl action figure worth?

The Supergirl doll is highly sought after by collectors, but the value depends heavily on its condition. Good condition unboxed or carded examples can be found on auction sites such as eBay for prices up to $150, whereas figures in unopened window boxes have sold for over $350 in some circumstances.
