Mego Love Boat action figures are a range of vintage toys based on the popular American televisions series ‘The Love Boat’.

Background

The Love Boat was a highly popular U.S series which ran from 1977 until 1986. It was a romantic comedy show which featured a series of regular characters (the ship’s crew) along with weekly guest stars playing passengers.

The Mego figures were released in 1981, at the peak of the show’s popularity and highest ratings.

The range features 6 figures based on the show’s main characters, all in the 3” size. Each of the characters was sold on a blister pack, with only three of the figures accompanied by accessories (removeable hats). The figures were:

  • Captain Merrill Stubing
  • Vicki Stubing
  • Dr Adam Bricker
  • Julie McCoy
  • Isaac Washington
  • Burl ‘Gopher’ Smith

A Love Boat playset ship was also released in Canada by the company Grand Toys, who acquired the rights to the figures when Mego ceased trading in 1983.

How much are Mego Love Boat action figures worth?

Mego Love Boat figures can be rare, and are popular with collectors. Uncarded figures in good condition can sell for between $20 - $30 on auction sites such as eBay (depending on condition), whereas unopened examples still in their blister packs can fetch up to $40 in some circumstances.
